Flyer for poetry reading from the late-1990s

A flyer advertising a poetry reading at James de Villiers's Gallery 111, probably about 1998. Some of the poets reading were the late Lionel Murcott, Alan Finlay (whose The cactus of a bright sky has just been published by Dye Hard Press), Roy Blumenthal and Gary Cummiskey.

Things heating up with Outside the cave and The cactus of a bright sky

Just had an email from Kobus Moolman, who selected the poems for Outside the cave and wrote the introduction - and he loves it! And raved about Alan Finlay's The cactus of a bright sky too!

Both these titles are available directly from the publisher. Outside the cave is R280 (including courier to your door) and The cactus of a bright sky is R140 (including courier). Or why not buy both, for R320 (including courier)? Email dyehardress@iafrica.com.
Overseas orders would also have to be couriered. The South African Post Office is dysfunctional and can't deliver even local mail. Some books mailed to the UK, Europe and India last year October have not yet arrived. Please email me for details.

Pravasan Pillay's Chatsworth still going strong!

I see that Farah Sayed has Pravasan Pillay's Chatsworth on her reading list during her self-quarantine. Hope it ends soon, Farah, and that you and your family will remain safe.
Chatsworth is still available for sale at Made in Chatsworth.

RIP Lionel Murcott

Lionel Murcott performing his poetry at the Melville Poetry Festival, 2013.

This morning I read on Facebook about the passing of South African artist and poet Lionel Murcott, a truly gentle, creative soul. I had published his work in various issues of my literary journal Green Dragon, and also in a small anthology called Electric Juice. When I was the editor of New Coin, from 2014 to 2016, he allowed me to use his artwork for the covers, free of charge. He also read and performed his work at various venues, such as James de Villiers's Gallery 111 in Kensington, Johannesburg, and at the Melville Poetry Festival in 2012 and 2013.

Our condolences to his family.

New from Dye Hard Press: Outside the cave by Gary Cummiskey

Outside the cave is a selection of Gary Cummiskey's poems from 1990 to 2019, selected and introduced by Kobus Moolman.

164 pages.
ISBN 978-0-9869982-8-7
Outside the cave will be available from select bookstores. If you order directly from the publisher, the cost will be R280, including courier to your door.
I need to make a plan for overseas orders. The reliability of the South African Post Office is at an all-time low, worsened by delays due to Covid. For example, some Dye Hard Press books mailed to England and France last October have still not arrived. But keep watching this space!
In the meantime, for domestic orders, please send an email to dyehardpress@iafrica.com.
